At Symposion, we care about the well-being of all our members and students who are looking to reach out for help. Below are listed resources that we provide or recommend. Whether you are struggling with mental health problems or are having a rough time, we hope that you will find something on this page that may work for you.

Mental Health Resources

  • Student Psychologist. Link to Student Psychologist page. While student psychologists are easy to access, there are limits to the topics and issues student psychologists can help you with. We advise you to reach out and give it a try. We also want to stress that, in case this form of therapy turns out to not be for you, that therapy offered by the university is not all there is to therapy.
  • Therapy in the Netherlands – Dutch health insurance is needed. View this document for a quick overview of how to get Dutch health insurance and how to get linked to a psychologist or psychotherapist.

Confidential Contact Persons

Symposion has a list of Confidential Contact Persons (CCPs). If you would like to discuss any sensitive issues or situations regarding the study association or program, you may contact them via the emails listed below.

Other tips and measures from our members

Call a friend or trusted family member. Or make plans with people – though this might require effort and is at times scary, connecting with people is vital. Take innitiative!

Get your physical health sorted! It is often obvious, but drink water, eat good food, and get fresh air. Find a dog- or cat-sitting job!

Work as a bike delivery person! Fresh air, listening to music or podcasts while biking an electric bike has done me some good. Or just work in general. Keeps the pockets full and gets your mind off of things.
